You Don’t Have to ‘Out’ Yourself: Asking for Workplace Changes Without Labels
You don’t have to disclose a diagnosis to make your workplace work better for your brain. In this post, I talk about how neurodivergent adults can ask for practical changes without using labels. Instead of focusing on what’s “wrong” with you, we’ll look at Universal Design: small, thoughtful shifts like clear agendas, meeting buffer times, noise-canceling headphones, and flexible lighting that improve productivity and comfort for everyone, not just neurodivergent folks.
You’ll also find simple scripts you can use to request accommodations from your manager or HR, plus ideas for what to do if your requests are denied. My goal is to help you reduce masking, protect your energy, and create a work environment that actually supports how your brain and nervous system function.
